A Non-QM (Non-Qualified Mortgage) loan is a mortgage that does not meet the strict underwriting guidelines required by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or government agencies. Instead of relying solely on tax returns and W-2s, Non-QM loans use alternative documentation to evaluate a borrower’s true ability to repay.
